Milliken's Coastline - crafted from ECONYL® yarn - repurposes reclaimed fishing nets, carpets and nylon waste.

In association with:

The sustainability of our oceans is a cause that global manufacturer, Milliken, is dedicated to.
It spurred North West team, Rachel and Lloyd, to recently support our first family event at Material Source Studio Manchester, where children were welcomed to learn about ocean plastics in an interactive workshop led by Cornwall-based community interest company, Beach Guardian. Practical advice was shared about how we can collectively tackle the problem, from repurposing discarded 'ghost gear' to sorting and removing plastic nurdles from the environment.
And it's also driven the launch of new collection, Coastline, inspired by the beauty of the British coast and reflective of the transient, ephemeral point at which the land meets the sea.
Manufactured in the UK, Coastline uses ECONYL® yarn, which is made from reclaimed fishing nets, carpets and nylon waste otherwise destined for our landfills and oceans.
"Coastline carpet tiles enable the designer to transition seamlessly from one point to another without hard borders or inflexible lines. Using a quick and easy to use kit of standard design elements, Coastline makes it easy to produce a bespoke floorplane without the need to develop custom designs. Being creative on the floor has never been quicker or easier."
We honour the coastline by protecting it.
The collection is made up of four designs: Seascape, Seascape Transitions, Landscape and Landscape Transitions with 24 core colours and 12 transition colours. Milliken’s patented Millitron® patterning technology makes these subtle changes in colour and pattern possible.

The Seascape design is inspired by the soft shadows cast beneath the ocean’s surface and lapping waves. Textures echo delicate seaform, grains of sand and rock surfaces. The multi-tile design naturally forms organic shapes which flow effortlessly across the floor and enhance the feeling of space. This design showcases a palette of rich new colours which reflect the natural coastline.
The Landscape design is inspired by the British coastline and in particular sand dunes, coastal plants and grasses. It is an organic design with a strong biophilic aesthetic. The multi-tile design makes it possible to create an abstract movement of light and shade across the floor.
Coastline with Comfort Lite cushion backing offers supreme underfoot comfort and absorbs up to 60% more ambient sound than hardback carpet and reduces impact sound by up to 40%. The impressive acoustic qualities of Coastline can help to increase productivity and enhance well-being by considerably reducing unwanted noise in the workplace (a significant contributor to stress, fatigue, illness and absenteeism).

The collection is CRI Green Label Plus certified for indoor air quality, EPD verified and TUV certified. It comes with WellBAC Comfort cushion backing as standard (90% recycled content) and is available with TractionBack® 2.0 pressure sensitive adhesive on request, improving Indoor Air Quality and offering a more flexible installation process.
Coastline carpet tiles are manufactured in the UK in a ISO14001 certified location using renewable sources. The collection comes with a 15 year wear guarantee and a lifetime antistatic guarantee.
