Understanding Sustainability Enea An interactive CPD exploring what sustainability really means within interior design, beyond environmental credentials alone. The session looks at the three key pillars of sustainability (environmental, social and economic) and how true sustainability only really exists where all three come together. The aim is also to encourage a little more critical thinking around the subject: looking beyond labels, materials or headline sustainability claims and considering the full picture behind a product or a business, from recyclability and product life cycle to manufacturing, supply chains, social responsibility and economic sustainability. Through practical examples and case studies, we also challenge some of the assumptions we naturally make when specifying products: what looks like the “greener” option at first sight isn’t necessarily the most sustainable one when you look at its full life cycle.
