British Ceramic Tile introduces a sophisticated tile collection in association with the V&A

Abbey Circle

From walls through to floors, you can create an inspiring look for your next project with the new V&A Brompton collection. The range from British Ceramic Tile and the V&A delivers style and sophistication and celebrates the Victorian fascination with medieval geometric floors.

Each design offers its own unique aesthetic and has been inspired by a nineteenth century tile, held in the archives at the world-famous museum in London. The versatile patterns all work effortlessly together in a contemporary blue and grey colour palette creating a patchwork effect on walls or floors, or can be installed as standalone surface coverings.

"Our design team looked to deliver a range of pattered tiles that architects and designers could use inside and out to bring a unique personality to spaces," says Liam Poole at British Ceramic Tile. "Characterful and authentic, these high quality porcelain tiles are ideal for busy commercial environments, providing a hard wearing floor solution that can also withstand cold temperatures making the tiles well suited to patios and outdoor features."

Godwin Grey is based on a patterned earthenware tile designed in the medieval style by nineteenth century tilemaker, William Godwin (1813–83). A classic design of geometric elements, it has been reinterpreted into a contemporary palette of soft greys.

Abbey Circle is a design inspired by a Victorian earthenware tile, in the style of a medieval floor tile, held in the V&A collection. In cool shades of complementary grey, it has an authentic and handmade feel.

Pugin Filigree, meanwhile, has been adapted from an earthenware tile, designed by the master of Gothic Revival, A.W.N. Pugin (1812–52), after a medieval floor tile. Using timeless blue tones Pugin Filigree features an intricate design of stylised leaves and flowers.
