Material Source Studio Glasgow x Concept Cubicle Systems: A deep, dappled washroom scheme with collaboration at its heart.

For Concept Cubicle Systems' latest washroom project at Material Source Studio in Glasgow, the team was tasked with crafting a cubicle system reflecting an overarching deep, dappled palette of burnt orange and grey.

Everything about Material Source Studio's unique destinations are beautiful and useful in equal measure. And so, this same set of values applied to balancing aesthetics with function for the design of the washroom setting in Scotland.

In response to the brief from Material Source co-founder and creative director, Darren Clanford, bespoke Curve Privacy cubicles featuring bold powder coated pilasters, fixtures, and fittings, were chosen, matched perfectly to a RAL shade to mirror the colour pairings throughout.

Adding an extra textural element to the scheme are the Woodio® Block wall hung toilets in Clay, made from a mixture of woodchips and resin-based adhesive, and just launched in the UK. Initially created with a desire to disrupt the existing interiors market, Woodio® has innovation and ingenuity at its heart, offered as a more sustainably sound, carbon friendlier alternative to the ceramic products traditionally used in washroom schemes. For the first time, it can now be specified from UK-held stock, with products available to view up-close on a dedicated POD at Material Source Studio in Glasgow.

To complement the cubicle system, an Antique Copper wallcovering from Studio partners Altro in a subtle, almost tortoise-shell patterning contributes beautifully to the overall ambience, alongside Clean Air purifying paint from Crown.

To enhance this, Darren placed individual spotlights from Light Forms - suppliers of all the lighting in the Studio - to highlight elements of both the rich depths and lighter tones, resulting in a smoke-like, swirling effect with pace and movement. Working harmoniously with the various shades of orange within the design, this adds an extra pinch of the unexpected.

For the sink area, Concept Cubicle Systems harnessed the aesthetic and functional benefits of the Woodio® Soft40 tabletop basins, alongside a sustainably conscious vanity top in PaperStone from CDUK - a fellow Studio partner that's furthered its commitment to sustainability with the launch of its new Vita Nova take-back scheme, and taps from Crosswater - part of the Bathroom Brands Group, and a Studio partner in Glasgow.

When it comes to collaboration for sustainably-sound results, it doesn't get much better than this.
