2 Angel Square is a 1980s post-modern office building, now used as a shared workspace. For its transformation, designers wanted to create bold colours and shapes inspired by the Memphis Movement, opting for a ‘terrazzo’ theme throughout.

When looking for a flooring solution, Shed Design - the practice working on the new scheme - sought products that would work in harmony with the post-modern design of the building. Resin was selected as being high impact and functional and in keeping with the progressive spirit of client, The Office Group.

The resin trays set new rules for the space, and create a new architecture within, without being precious of the building’s features - Rowan Taylor Designer, Shed Design

Altro Mosaic was selected as it offered a versatile, durable and highly decorative solution. Bespoke colours were used to fit in with the office design scheme, used on both floors and walls, lending a flexible and customised aesthetic to the front of house area.

The Mosaic collection is available in systems that encapsulate decorative acrylic flakes to give different finishes: matt or gloss. 15 different designs are offered for a decorative multi-layer finish that can be applied to walls and floors and looks great as an accent for feature areas.

Altro XpressLay was also specified for its ease of installation, cost effectiveness and sustainability credentials. It utilises a unique formulation for a quick fit without compromising on performance or durability. Altro’s revolutionary technology, featuring a studded surface on the underside of the floor, allows it to lie flat and perform like a traditionally adhered floor without the need for an adhesive.
