Bohinc’s ability to create work of iconic beauty is rooted in her familiarity with materials and manufacturing approaches.
Lara Bohinc founded Bohinc Studio in 2016 for the exploration of furniture and object design. Bohinc’s ability to create work of iconic beauty is rooted in her familiarity with materials and manufacturing approaches.
While retaining a deep respect for the traditional principles of her craft, she has also drawn on her knowledge of industrial techniques, fusing modernity of style with function, to achieve a contemporary elegance. The same principles angular yet feminine.
At the London Design Festival this year Bohinc Studio presented new designs for boxes and a new vase at the aptly named pop up, Lunar House. The new product launches marked the 50th anniversary of the moon landing this year.
The Jupiter Vase - Named after the planet Jupiter, the new Jupiter vase features a brass bullet shaped vase and a base in 3-D milled Carrara marble. The vase can be removed from its rainbow shaped base.
The Saturn and Pluto Box - The box’s interlocking shapes reference this year’s exceptional planetary conjunction between Saturn and Pluto. The Saturn and Pluto box features three brass round compartments with tops in calacatta, red travertine and portoro marble.
The Juno Box - Bohinc Studio’s new Juno box comprises a large brass body and a smaller round compartment. Details in green ming, red travertine, calcatta and portoro marbles add a playful, almost feminine, touch to the otherwise predominantly geometric design.
All Bohnic's new pieces are made in Portugal using a mix of handmade metalwork and 3-D milled marble parts.
