Materials Revived, Surfaces Reformed is a sculpture trail located inside Material Source Studio London.

A series of crafted artworks tell the stories – past and present - of CDUK’s unique interior surface solutions, including Polygood, PaperStone®, and repurposed Corian®, all either made from recycled matter, or latterly, repurposed through the Reutilize partnership, and Vita Nova takeback scheme.

Launched during Clerkenwell Design Week, the trail provides a unique and interactive way of experiencing the versatile capabilities of the materials, in addition to takeaway samples being offered on CDUK's dedicated Studio POD.

Here's a flavour of what you can expect when you visit...

Evolution Plastic: Journey through the Polygood Tunnel

Made from 100% recycled and recyclable plastic and part of the Growth Collection, designed in collaboration with Gensler, this sculpture sees waved arches of Polygood surfaces, in an array of speckled hues, from charcoal to white, guide your journey into our Theatre (where, during CDW, a seminar was held on Future Materials: The challenges of specifying them - CDUK was one of the sponsors).

Just as Polygood celebrates circular lifecycles, this sculpture celebrates the many attributes these surfaces posses, seeking to inspire the creative use in your schemes.

Organic Matters: Explore the rich textures of PaperStone®

This organic inspired artwork, made from recycled paper, mirrors the rippling contours found in natural wood grain - the same inspiration at the heart of the material itself.

Crafted from recycled paper and a natural resin, it is a surface with its sustainability story built in from the start. Low carbon and commercially ready, PaperStone® is manufactured reliably at scale for commercial projects.

Waste Not: Reimagine the future with 100% repurposed Corian®, in partnership with Reutilize & Vita Nova.

Waste Not is the name given to this sculpture, representing the past, present and future of surface materials.

It was created in collaboration with Reutilize®, a specialist platform where surplus materials or offcuts that would otherwise go to landfill, can be listed. A marketplace accessible to designers and makers across the industry.

Each beautiful, unique pebble is crafted from material returned through the CDUK Vita Nova solution and listed with Reutilize® to find a new life. The result here is a stacked pebble form sculpture made from 100% repurposed Corian®, revived to reflect a shared commitment to keeping material out of landfill.

Corian® is thermoformable, repairable and can be joined seamlessly. Those inherent characteristics make it ideal for repurposing. It can be shaped, repaired, and refinished rather than replaced, which is why it sits at the heart of the Vita Nova circular solution. When material does reach the end of a project life, Vita Nova and partners like Reutilize® mean it does not have to stop there.
