Sanipex Gallery Dubai is the new home of design for indoor and outdoor living in the UAE, offering a unique and distinctive collection of products available for interior or exterior spaces.

We were invited to attend the launch event of their new showroom and took the opportunity to speak to Sanipex Group MD Daryl Barker about this exciting addition to the group's portfolio and the UAE design community. Here's what Daryl had to say...

Firstly, many congratulations on the new showroom, it's stunning, tell us more about the vision behind this new concept?

Sanipex Group is well established in the middle-east project, trade, and retail sectors as a bathroom and washroom provider. Within our offer, we have tiles and spa products, which are both active growth sectors for us. Our new Gallery focus's heavily on the latest trends in these categories, and we have added Outdoor Living to complete the 'Live Well' proposal to both the professional and retail clientele.

Wellbeing is at the top of everyone's agenda currently, and your tag line 'Live Well' captures this beautifully, tell us more about the ethos behind the statement?

There is a general realisation that 'quality of life' is the most essential aspect of all our aspirations. The 'Live Well' tag is reflective of the product offering, which should complement the more healthy lifestyle that we are all aspiring too. More time outdoors and time spent relaxing with our family and friends, enhancing our quality of life.

I can't think of another showroom or company that offers such a wide choice of products for indoor and outdoor living under one roof, is it fair to says Sanipex Gallery is a unique concept?

Without a doubt, we do not have a direct competitor in the UAE area who offers such a comprehensive design-led product range under one roof, supported by our stock and logistics capability.

Talking to your clients at your opening event, it was evident that they share your eye for beautiful design, how do you go about curating your product collection?

We travel extensively to visit both design-led exhibitions such as Salone in Milan as well as smaller, more individual fairs where we can find different handcrafted lines, allowing our offer to be unique. Our taste is always influenced by the latest trends while considering quality, durability, and the cosmopolitan nature of our UAE clients.

Staying with new product, what are the latest trends that you see emerging during 2020?

New trends are focused around warmer colours, texture, and natural materials. People are far more connected with their senses, and looking for more tactile products.

Your product offer caters for both commercial and residential design, how important is the commercial market to Sanipex Gallery and the wider group?

About 20% of our total business is in the commercial sector, supplying airports, hospitals, education, and prestigious public buildings. Most of these projects in the area are now very on-trend and no longer looking at cold, clinical solutions. We are supplying our products to many incredible new buildings such as the new airport in Abu Dhabi, Dubai Library, and the Museum of the Future.

Looking at your impressive list of completed projects, what's your favourite project, and why?

My favourite project would be one that we are currently supplying, which is the Dubai EXPO 2020 park. It is an incredibly exciting area with very diverse requirements, and the sustainability theme is both admirable and relevant. We are supplying several pavilions, the on-site hotel, as well as the main public areas.

Finally, what are you next looking forward to? Do you have any particular ambitions or new plans on the horizon?

Sanipex Group has solid foundations both in the Gulf and the UK, we continue to grow our operating platform with new regional offices and also increasing our product offer. A new website is under development to make our offer easier to understand and use for the global design community. Opportunities continue to grow in the hospitality and wellness sectors as people focus their life more around experiences.
